Curtain wall glazing installation & access rigging
Project Overview
A commercial building in Nottingham was having its front elevation upgraded with a modern curtain wall glazing system, replacing older, less efficient window units. With the working face several storeys up, access was planned around a combination of cherry picker and rope access to keep the programme moving without full scaffold on that elevation.
The Work
Our glazing team combined mechanical and rope access to install the new curtain wall system efficiently and safely:
- Surveyed the elevation and confirmed fixing points for the new curtain wall framework
- Used a cherry picker to install the structural mullions and transoms at height
- Fitted rope access anchor points for finishing and sealing works in harder-to-reach sections
- Installed insulated glass units into the new curtain wall framework, panel by panel
- Sealed all joints and perimeter details to the manufacturer's specified system
- Cleaned down all glazing on completion and carried out a full quality inspection

Results
The finished elevation gives the building a modern, energy-efficient façade:
- A fully installed curtain wall system improving the building's thermal performance
- Improved natural light and a modern external appearance
