Commercial Flat Roof with Dome Rooflight Installation

Project Overview

A commercial unit in Derby needed its flat roof replaced alongside a set of aging dome rooflights that were letting in draughts and starting to discolour. The client wanted the two elements treated as a single project so the roof and rooflight upstands would be sealed together as one continuous watertight system.

The Work

Our team combined the re-roof and rooflight replacement into a single coordinated programme:

• Erected scaffold and roof-edge protection across the full working area
• Removed the failing roof covering and disposed of all waste responsibly
• Installed new insulation boards and a fully bonded flat roofing membrane
• Removed the aging dome rooflights and replaced them with new double-skin polycarbonate domes
• Built and flashed new upstands so the rooflights and roof membrane formed one continuous seal
• Tested all rooflight seals and roof junctions for watertightness before sign-off

The finished roof gives the client a weatherproof building with far better daylighting:

• A fully re-covered flat roof with a manufacturer-backed warranty
• New dome rooflights improving natural light and eliminating previous draughts

• Completed in 7 working days with no interruption to the unit's use
