Curved Commercial Glass Roof Installation

Structural Glazing Commercial Glazing Glass Roof Rope Access
Service
Structural Glazing
Duration
8 working days
Project value
£47,000
Scope
Curved glass roof installation & rope access rigging

Project Overview

A commercial building in Nottingham was extended with a curved glass roof section designed to flood an internal atrium space with natural light. The curved geometry meant every glazing unit was individually shaped, requiring careful sequencing to install and seal each panel correctly.

The Work

Working from rope access rigged across the curved structure, our team installed the roof panel by panel:

  • Rigged rope access anchor points across the curved roof structure
  • Checked each individually shaped glass unit against the structural framework before installation
  • Installed curved glazing units in sequence, working from one end of the roof to the other
  • Sealed each panel junction as it was fitted to maintain a continuous weatherproof line
  • Fitted ridge and perimeter flashings to complete the roof's weatherproofing
  • Carried out a full weather test across the curved roof before handover

Results

The finished roof gives the building a striking architectural feature with full weatherproof performance:

  • A fully weatherproof curved glass roof completed to the architect's specification
  • Significantly improved natural light into the atrium space below
  • No damage to individually shaped glazing units during installation
  • Completed in 8 working days using rope access throughout
