Structural Glass Façade — Office Building

Project Overview

The owners of an office building in Derby wanted to modernise its street-facing entrance with a full structural glass façade, replacing an outdated brick and window frontage. The project required close coordination between structural fixing works and the glazing installation to keep the building weathertight throughout.

The Work

Our team delivered the façade in phases to keep the building secure and weathertight at every stage:

• Surveyed the existing frontage and confirmed the structural fixing design for the new façade
• Erected scaffold and temporary weather protection across the working elevation
• Installed the structural steel and glazing bar framework for the new façade
• Fitted large-format structural glass units panel by panel, sealing as each was installed
• Integrated a new glazed entrance door system into the façade design
• Carried out full weather testing across the completed façade before removing weather protection
